Welcome to 2018! It is in my experience that beginning a new year having reviewed your previous year allows you to really see your successes and achievements, integrate what you have learned, and review your gratitude’s from the past year. Rather than blindly diving into the new year with some half-hearted resolutions, reviewing your 2017 will empower you deeply as you begin 2018. And it isn't too late to do so! I invite you to find some quiet time and space, perhaps in a lovely café, or on a comfortable chair at home, or with a glass of wine if you so desire, and of course, a beautiful notebook. {As an aside, my favorite notebooks are the Kate Spade spiral notebooks!} Bringing in the beautiful allows you to enjoy the process of journaling, being honest with yourself about your year, and to really appreciate the beauty of the lessons which while challenging, were most likely also gifts.
So let's dive in, shall we? 1) SPEND TIME REALLY LOOKING AT HOW FAR YOU HAVE TRAVELED Too often, we focus on where we have fallen short because we are looking at the goal rather than the progress we have made towards it. When you turn around and see how far you have indeed come along towards your goals or your vision, you will notice an increase in your confidence, rather than a disappointment for not making it all the way to the end. 2) RECOGNIZE WHAT YOU HAVE ACHIEVED AND APPRECIATE IT During my initial review, I could not believe how much I had actually learned -- truly valuable lessons in life and in business which serve me now in planning my 2018. I am able to sit with a calendar to plan 2018 with much greater appreciation for what is possible and what I am creating. I was joyful and glorious in recognition of what I did do in 2017. It is also worth mentioning that many of my 2017 goals did not come to fruition. And yet, many did. 3) INTERESTINGLY, THE INTENTIONS WHICH I WROTE DOWN AND FORGOT ABOUT CAME INTO BEING MORE EASILY THAN THOSE I FOCUSED ON CONTINUOUSLY In reviewing each intention I wrote down for the beginning of 2017, I noticed something very interesting. Those on which I focused all the time either did not come true or took greater effort to accomplish. But, here is what blew my mind! In late summer, prior to moving, a book on my shelf caught my attention. I have owned it for many years, and for some reason, at that moment on a hot August morning, it begged me to be picked up off the shelf. I went right to it! The book is called Touching the Light by Meg Blackburn Losey. I read the book each day, and as I arrive close to the end, one passage stops me in my tracks! Literally... because it is the exact opposite of so many teachings in the manifesting world. Are you ready to hear this? The author specifically states that you ask for your desire, goal, manifestation ONCE. Only once. You do NOT meditate on your desires each and every day to strengthen your feeling and desire. Why? Because each meditation, each visualization, each feeling you send out into the Universe creates a new imprint. Think about it. Each moment is a new creation with a new energetic imprint, therefore, the more you focus and send out your visualization, the more imprints are out there, making it challenging to return your desire -- imagine if in 90 days you send out 90 imprints? So, first, this did indeed stop me so hard that I had to re-read it over and over again in order to make sure I understood it correctly. Secondly, when I checked in with my intentions for 2017, those that I had written down and forgotten about were mostly all checked off with the word DONE by them. Thirdly, it wasn't until I did a review of 2017 and looked at the full picture, that I now believe wholeheartedly that if you want to visualize and meditate on your intentions, you just do it once and let go. 4) YOU STILL SHOW UP AND DO THE WORK This is the beautiful part. You simply show. up. and. do. the. work. When I look at accomplishments, BIG ONES, in years way before I entered the path of transformation and coaching, I could see that I never had to get my mindset straight before things could manifest. I just did what was required. That's it! For example,
Make sense? So, to bring it all back to you, spend some quality time this weekend to review your year. Completion is incredibly powerful! Consider this time well invested for yourself and your year ahead. Acknowledge your progress. Get clear on the lessons... and the gifts in the lessons. Express your appreciation for the lessons and integrate them into the new year. As you write your intentions, goals, and desires for 2018, trust that there is a higher intelligence, inner guidance, and wisdom working on your behalf to support you. Happy new year Beautiful!
