Oh my goodness! On Zoom with my coach I am working on identifying my inner glass ceiling... those invisible inner barriers that keep you stuck in an area of life that really matters to you. And specifically I was working on where I get stopped or stuck in my business. What happens over and over again that I can't see? This is the stuff that's beyond mindset. I share with her a story of an event that took place about 15 years ago, in which I find myself unable to identify that I had a pattern of needing help when feeling insecure or uncertain... and again this was only present in a particular area of my life. In this moment on our coaching call, she exclaims, "Of course you need help! Brilliant women like us need help!" Instantly I feel lighter. I am open. The awareness releases the energy of the inner barrier. Specifically the feelings I experienced of inadequacy and insufficiency release. So let's really break this down.... because in my intellect, I would not see myself as insufficient just because I need help. Yet deep down, an energy of inadequacy had become stuck in my body. At some point in the past I had felt shame for not knowing, for not getting it right, for needing help to figure something out. Chances are that while I remember this occurrence 15 years ago, it probably goes back to earlier years. I'm also aware that I made that interpretation, and continued to live out of this unconscious pattern for years.
You may be reading this right now thinking this isn't you. Perhaps you have plenty of help and you don't hesitate for one moment to make a request. And if you don't hesitate, ask yourself, "is this true in every area of my life, or is there somewhere I indeed hold back?" Because these barriers are not present everywhere in your life. Or is what's keeping you stuck, something else? Whatever that thing is that holds you back, you cannot self-identify it when it is both hidden from your sight and embedded energetically in your body. There is always another level, another layer. I couldn't believe that after being steeped in woman-centered work for years now, that I couldn't see it on my own. According to my mentor Dr. Claire Zammit, a woman cannot uncover her own invisible inner barrier herself. She's never seen it happen in over 25 years. I feel reassured since I am a brilliant woman who needs help. The sense I sit with now is one of liberation... at least for now. A sense that I am no longer shackled to this invisible barrier that seems so silly on the surface, yet profoundly painful underneath. An inner barrier that kept me spinning my wheels in struggle. An unseen inner boundary that had me question my own capabilities, wondering why I sometimes couldn't grasp things faster. If you're curious about how you might identify your invisible inner barrier and shift from limited to liberated in an area of life that really matters to you, email me at [email protected]. Together we can elevate you to a higher order that can cause an irreversible, lasting shift in how you experience yourself and life. Perhaps if you've read this far, you are a brilliant woman who needs help!
